Internship in London 2017

Introduction 

Hi, how are you. My name is Braniel. it is a mix between my two names Moriel and Brandon. I go to ROC Leiden, which they changed their name into MBO Rijnland (to start new and fresh.) My course is media design, Video & Audio (although, we barely do something with audio) They teach us about animation and video. My interest lies more towards video.

ADC

Somewhere in October 2016 everyone got an email about a possibility internship in London. Of course, everyone wants that, but it was very expensive. At first, they said: it cost 4000 euro and school pays the half of it. Everyone was then disappointed, so was I. But later one my friend convinced me to go with him, which also convinced another friend to go with us. Me and a friend borrowed money from the government. Later, somewhere in January- the school (someone who works for the school) told us that it cost 4430 euro. Where they will give us the 2000 euro back. I was mad, because at first, they said it cost 4000 and now we had to pay 2430 euro. We did talk with them about and we just paid the price. And now you might wonder what’s with the title ADC. Our school had a contact which was ADC, and ADC is a company where they find internships for students and a place to stay. Our money went to that company. They arranged an internship for us and a place to stay.

The internships they arranged

I am going to give my friends nicknames, because I don't want their names to go public. Let's call the friend who convinced me Timo and that other one Mo. Timo was born in Columbia. Mo is Moroccan and born here in the Netherlands. Timo got Rocking Horse. He was happy about his place; his colleague was very nice. No complaints whatsoever. Mo however has a different story. At first ADC arranged a good-looking company (I forgot the name). Few days before we were going to London, Mo messaged me through WhatsApp, telling me that he received an email from ADC. They said: We got a place for you. It is a company where they arrange weddings and you can take pictures for them, they make wedding magazines and so on. Obviously, he wasn't happy about it. He was more confused at first. Because he already has place. He called them about it. Next week Monday when we were in London, at ADC College. A girl received us and Mo told her about his complaint and she understands that. They were also pissed, because the company where Mo originally had- cancelled him. So, the people from ADC must find a new place in a short amount of time. They promised they will find a new place for him. Mo tried to be positive about and gave it a chance.

My internship 

few weeks before London

I'm not going to tell you the name of my internship, because it's not positive. I am going to give it another name which is

Mybuilding. Mybuilding office is in a building that Wonderbra’s owns. I checked their websites and I was very impressed and I was happy about it. The owner, my supervisor, Which I'm going to call him Ben is a very nice guy. He offered to pay for my lunch and travel, plus buy 1 month of a sim card. So that I have an English number. He did tell me that I will have to do things for him. Like bring things from place A to B. I agreed on that. It was fine with me. I was expecting to learn a lot from him and he would pay the travel and food for me. So, doing those things is the least I can do.

In London

I was pretty early on my first day. We agreed on 10:30. I was in the area at 9-ish. I decided to walk around and later at 9:45 I went inside-talked to the lady at counter. I could go upstairs and wait at bar. They had this cafe/bar area. It was awesome. I was really hyped about the internship. I waited until 11. Because he got late. Once we introduced ourselves he asked me to buy a lighter for him. I did with no problem. Later, his wife came. I'll call her Big (no she wasn't big). So Big and Ben where at the office. My first task was to make a backup of the hard drive she gave me and later Ben asked me to edit a video. The video was of him while giving a presentation. Later, he gave me one of his business card to buy lunch for them and I could keep it, so that when they ask me to buy something. I can use the card to pay and even for my lunch. After lunch, I went with Big to an Hotel while carrying a monitor. They had this meeting in a hotel. The experience was great in my head. Because they were having a meeting in this good-looking room in a hotel. It's like one of my goals when you get rich as a business man and have meetings in wonderful places. After that I could go early. My first day was great, no problem at all.

I hate this

I was at the Mybuilding company for 4 weeks. I was always the first person at the office. I start at 9 am. They usually come at 10 or longer. 1st week I was with Big and Ben 2nd week I was alone, because they went to New York for business. It was great being alone. Although it kind of gets boring. I got no one to talk with. I sometimes even come later than 9 and go home early. Since there was no one keeps my hours, but me. The 3rd week they were back. Big was usually at the office and Ben was giving 4 days of lessons. This week was a bit harder for me, because Big gave the vibes like she doesn't like me. Once she asked me to buy things for her online. So, I did at Amazon. I put the address, but it seemed not to work. I asked her and she was like ''How do you not know how this work. What do you learn at your school.'' The thing is. I don't do online shopping. The address in the Netherland is different. For example, here it's like

In New York (the place she wants me to send it to) was different. And I was really trying, and at first, she herself didn't manage to send it. So, she keeps trying and then she succeeds. She has the laptop on her right and then it fell on the floor. I grabbed and she looked at me with anger or hateful. I didn't even put the laptop on there. She had it. Not me. On a Friday where I and someone that she hired to get the stuff from the class room of Ben back to the office. The next week they were again In New York and Switzerland. On Monday, we received an email from someone who works at the building where Ben gave his lesson. She said that a remote was missing and that we might have it by accident. I tried to look and I couldn't find it. The next day I received an Email from Big and said ''You can't do anything right. Since you came here, we only have troubles.'' I was shocked and it kind of hurt my feelings. Because I was trying to do my best for them. It gave me more motive to look again and better. I found the remote and I went to the building and gave it back. I also send Big an email of me apologizing of giving her any troubles. That I didn't mean to. Although I didn't put the remote in the box. I haven't seen her or Ben for the rest of the week and the next week. I also called ADC and asked for another company. After 4 weeks at mybuilding. I was at ADC for 2 weeks.
